Women Entrepreneurs in the Business World

 In Blog

According to the National Association of Women Business Owners, more than 9 million U.S. firms are now owned by women, employing nearly 8 million people and generating $1.5 trillion in sales. Even though this is a great statistic, women entrepreneurs still face challenges in the male-dominated workplace.

Business News Daily listed 7 challenges that women entrepreneurs face:

  1. Defying social expectations
  2. Dealing with limited access to funding
  3. Struggling to be taken seriously
  4. Owning your accomplishments
  5. Building a support network
  6. Balancing business and family life
  7. Coping with a fear of failure

The CEO of Trunkettes was asked to respond to the question of knowing how to overcome these obstacles and she responded, “Be yourself, and have confidence in who you are. You made it to where you are through hard work and perseverance, but most importantly, you’re there. Don’t conform yourself to a man’s idea of what a leader should look like. “

If women entrepreneurs are aware of these challenges, they will able to shape themselves into the strong, powerful leaders that they want to become.  It is truly is amazing to see how far we have come and what more we can do.
