Position: Manufacturing Engineer – PLC programming

Location: Louisville, KY
Salary range: $80,000 – 85,000 Annual Salary + Benefits + Annual Bonus

Responsible for providing technical services to the company to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The manufacturing engineer must Identify, research, and implement solutions to resolve problems. Supports production by making process improvements where necessary and provides engineering services to other departments. Ensures that improvements to processes are statistically capable and in accordance with product specifications and quality standards.

Your work will include, but not be limited to:

  • Serves as subject matter expert on the manufacturing processes within the plant.
  • Manufacturing Engineer will works closely with production, development, quality and the engineering department on manufacturing issues and improvement areas.
  • Investigates, establishes, and implements requirements for equipment, tooling, and methods of production.
  • Investigates and troubleshoots technical problems with processes and/or products.
  • Investigates, troubleshoots, and responds to customer-reported defects as they relate to the manufacturing process. Confers with engineering personnel on product and/or process design changes. Works directly with equipment vendors on resolving equipment and design issues.
  • Demonstrates ability to determine root-cause of technical problems; identifies and implements comprehensive solutions and verifies the problems have been resolved. Demonstrates knowledge of the TS16949 process and successfully completes required follow up on Non-Conformances and Corrective Actions.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the various codes and laws applicable to standard maintenance and engineering design and repair work (OSHA, ANSI, UL, etc). Acts as liaison to outside departments including Quality, Production, Materials Planning, Finance, HR, Maintenance and Development.
  • Works with Development teams as needed to support new equipment or process improvements.
  • Manufacturing Engineer will have the ability to write detailed equipment specifications or flow charts that encompass complex plant or line processes. Demonstrated ability to redesign an existing machine component or operational process following standard engineering practices to effect improvements and/or meet special customer requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and develop a new machine or operational process using improved or untested technology to effect improvements and/or meet special customer requirements.
  • Develops and delivers detailed training; creates curriculums and tools for advanced mechanic or engineer training on new equipment or process concepts.
  • Systems analysis, design, coding and testing for real time production dashboard system.
  • Observe user feedback to recommend improvements to the existing system.
  • Analyze existing data and perform data gap analysis with the goal of improving advanced metrics.
  • Collaborate with team members to determine best practices and client requirements for software.
  • Professionally maintain all software and create updates regularly to address customer and company concerns.
  • Actively seek ways to improve business software processes and interactions.

Required Qualifications:

  • PLC Programming experience  
  • PLC (RSLogix 500 & RSLogix 5000) Interpret, Troubleshoot, and Write.

Desired Qualifications:

  • One plus years of experience with the LPS systems and understanding of the underlying data.
  • Experience with MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) and a deep understanding of the role they play on the shop floor and what the data they generate means.
  • PLC (RSLogix 500 & RSLogix 5000) Interpret, Troubleshoot, and Write.
