Our client, a Tier 1 automotive supplier, is currently looking to hire a Quality Manager for their Tuscaloosa, AL facility.  This person will provide oversight and accountability for all local quality policies and programs in conformance with corporate policies.

Responsibilities of the role include:

  • Oversee quality assurance, continual improvement, development and implementation of quality, safety and environment management systems
  • Plan and schedule work for the quality division, ensuring proper distribution of assignments and adequate staffing, space, and facilities for performance of duties
  • Plan and conduct meetings with subordinates to ensure compliance with established practices, to implement new policies, and to keep employees abreast of current changes and standards
  • Oversee in-process quality audits, final inspection reviews, and customer presentations
  • Seek to continuously improve processes, practices, procedures, and performance in support of corporate objectives
  • Develop and maintain budget and operating plans for the Quality Assurance department
  • Direct the inspection and testing procedures of parts and/or finished products and handling of returns/rejects
  • Utilize defect management tools to report and track defects
  • Analyze reports to determine areas of improvement and the appropriate plan of action
  • Interface with outside inspectors or auditors and other officials during plant audits and maintains a rapport with customers to aid in compliance with regulations
  • Act as a key contact with customers' auditors and accept responsibility for ensuring the execution of corrective actions and ongoing compliance with customers' specifications
  • Represent the plant as the Quality Management Representative

 

Requirements for consideration include:

  • Previous experience in a quality leadership role (Quality Manager, Quality Supervisor, etc.) in an automotive or manufacturing environment
  • Strong professional knowledge and experience with precision tooling, comparators, height gages, and micrometers
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods
  • Knowledge of terminology pertaining to quality assurance as needed to respond to questions and provide oversight
  • Knowledge of the quality functions of an automotive plant as needed to oversee and direct employees in these functions
  • Knowledge of strategies such as product lifecycle management (PLM), just-in-time, and self-directed teams as needed to effectively implement these strategies

 

This is a fulltime, salaried role that requires a daily presence in Tuscaloosa, AL.
