The Technical Project Manager is accountable for planning and overseeing the development and support of programs and large projects within the IS department.  This person will work with IS Department Leadership, Business Leaders, and Executive management to plan, initiate, and manage large project initiatives through a delivery lifecycle while working under the direction of the PMO Manager.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Manages multiple, large, and complex projects to successful completion.
  • Manages internal IS and Business relationships for successful solution adoption and project momentum.
  • Assesses the project needs and requirements by conferring with stakeholders and department management.
  • Provides supervision and direct management of other project managers, both internal and 3rd party partners.
  • Works with stakeholders and department staff to identify resources needed and assigns individual project responsibilities. Will also minimize exposure and risk on projects by guiding and communicating across functions.
  • Ensures project objectives are being met and within budget, in a timely manner by overseeing and reviewing projects on a regular basis.
  • Ensures project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.
  • Prepares high-level and/or detail-level project plan by use of appropriate methods (i.e., Flowcharts, Word documents, Project Planning Software, etc.)
  • Leads team members in developing a project plan by reviewing current user processes and application functionality, and by verifying team members understand the requirements and scope of the project.
  • Ensures that team members understand the user?s needs and the project?s impact on the system by reviewing the project plan submitted by team members.
  • Ensures projects are tracked by using the project tracking software provided by Information Services.
  • Communicates collaboratively cross-departmentally and effectively resolves any customer needs.
  • Ensures management is informed of current issues by providing periodic updates of project status.
  • Provides resolutions to problems by taking the initiative to use all available resources for research and corrective action.
  • Motivates, develops, leads, and manages Project Resource staff to achieve fullest potential by establishing Project goals, providing necessary guidance, and receiving regular feedback as projects progresses.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

A Bachelor?s Degree in Computer Science preferred. 5+ years of project management and IT experience required. Three to five years of varied IT Infrastructure project experience, integration, data center migrations and transformations projects required.

SKILLS & CERTIFICATIONS

  • PMP Certification preferred.
  • Experience with Project Management Institute (PMI) requirements.
  • Effectively applies PMI methodology and enforces project standards.
  • Experience managing application priorities for a planned outage shutdown.
  • Experience with application requisite/prerequisite management and scheduling for a planned outage.
  • Experience managing tasks and responsibilities in a mainframe environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) on various levels from end user to Executive.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have the ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time.
  • Exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, to enter data into a computer terminal; to perceive and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids.
  • Detect and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone; converse in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in person and on the telephone; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
