Business Analyst 5 – Position Overview
We are currently on the hunt for a seasoned Software Business Analyst (BA) to join our team and contribute to the enhancement of a web application that supports the Michigan Department of Education’s (MDE), Office of Educator Excellence (OEE) Systems.
Job Description:
We are seeking a full-time, experienced BA to join a project supporting the OEE. The successful candidate will be involved in Requirement Analysis, Functional Design, and Testing documentation for all systems, processes, data flows, and services impacted by the project. The role requires high-level skills in collecting, analyzing, and documenting business requirements, creating functional requirements, conducting end-to-end testing, bug tracking, and coordinating/communicating with state agency stakeholders and DTMB team members. Relevant IT system integration experience is a must.
The selected candidate will work closely with business users and development teams to analyze business requirements, document requirements, and provide feedback on the actual system implementation of the business logic. This role will also be responsible for setting up the Agile sprint processes for this project and running the Agile sprint meetings. The position supports the development team on the project by providing requirements clarification and removing roadblocks in the development process.
Work Schedule:
The successful candidate will be required to work in the office 2 days a week and remotely for 3 days a week. This schedule is subject to change as directed by the Director of DTMB.
Start Date:
The target start date is TBD, but aimed for early February.

Contract Length:
The initial contract length is 12 months with the possibility of extension if desired.
Required Skills:
- Exposure to Complex IT web Applications, within the past 10 years (10+ years).
- Experience in a role supporting a software development project, within the past 10 years (10+ years).
- Experience working with educational data systems (6+ years).
- Ability to conduct meetings, communicate at a level appropriate to the audience, make oral and written reports and presentations (10+ years).
- Experience in a professional office environment (10+ years).
- Proficiency with MS Office and Visio (10+ years).
- Experience working as a liaison between the development team and project manager or business client in a software development project (10+ years).
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge and understanding of the Secure Software Development Lifecycle (SSDLC) (5+ years).
- Project management skills and knowledge in project management and related methodologies (5+ years).
