#MeToo Roundtable Meeting
On September 5th, 2018 blueStone Staffing was honored to host one of the many Northwest Human Resources Council’s (NHRC) employee relations roundtable meetings. NHRC is an affiliate chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) which is the world’s largest HR professional society.
This meeting was about the #MeToo Movement and the implications this has made for the workplace and HR. 10 members of the council came together to discuss, share, and learn about ways to prevent these situations in the workplace.
A few strategies that they presented were:
- A complete change and awareness in the company culture which requires training and constant attention to employees.
- Have written policies and procedures set in place when a complaint is brought to the front-line managers attention. This would also include having a formal investigation process in place to address the issue promptly and correctly to mitigate risk.
- Top management must set a good example and communicate the importance to the entire work force.
Dawn Davis from Congress of Neurological Surgeons stated, “We had a lot of buy in from our top leadership which was key. It took a lot of work and creation of committee, but the results have been great for the organization.”
We look forward to hosting more NHRC table meetings.
